Wake the Dead installation

A photography installation at Wake the Dead Coffeehouse in San Marcos, TX (April 2018). The installation was an exploration of visual narrative, with the complete artist's statement below:

"Each set of four photos has only one thing in common: no two photos of a given set were shot in the same place. Some photos were captured only cities apart, some in entirely different countries—some moments are separated by several years. Yet despite the time and space that separates the individual shots, each complete set creates a sense of visual cohesion. Each set has its own distinctive voice, mood, and narrative.

I curated each set with the intent to create new, unique narratives from bits and pieces of my own experiences. In this way, I mimicked the ability of storytellers across mediums - poets, writers, musicians, actors, painters - to pull candid moments from life experiences and weave them together to seamlessly fabricate entirely new narratives.

Every photo on the wall is a single, frozen moment pulled from somewhere, sometime the world. And when combined, moments become new stories—new narratives—new worlds."
